In a word, no. Scholarly effort this week:
Read four book reviews.
Decided to order three of the books, but haven't done so yet.
Started reading a massive survey paper on the stuff I told NERDI I want to work on. Lots has happened in the three years since I last read anything about the area. Most worryingly, the bigs guns in the field in which I trained have loaded up and started firing.
I've read about 6 of 50 pages so far. Number of references the survey lists: over 400.
Got invited to a small, intense workshop, apparently funded by wealthy crackpots, late next fall. I'm guessing the organizers (who are very much not crackpots) got my name from NERDI—I don't know any of them personally.
The Chicago Guide has a table summarizing how academics divide their time, which claims an average of 12 hours per week on scholarship.
My median (and mode) during term time: zero hours. Oh yeah.
