It all started small, back in my first trimester. I'd have a glass on the rocks with dinner. It helped me (and my esophagus) relax.
Then it was two or three glasses with dinner—well, that's a whole bottle there. In Canada, I had no car and had to lug the glass bottles home myself. The exercise couldn't be a bad thing, I rationalized.
The Midwestern heat has pushed me hard. (Well, the heat and the distinct agricultural runoff flavor to our tapwater.) I started drinking earlier and earlier in the day. Right after breakfast, even, I'd pour myself a tall one. Soon I was at three bottles a day.
Today I hit a new low. I brought a cold bottle to work with me and drank the whole thing down with lunch. I caught myself wondering about getting a small fridge for my office, too—a private one that only I'd use. Sure, I could use it for pumped breastmilk, when the time comes. But that's not what I want it for now.
Well, you could definitely have worse habits! And I have a fridge under my desk. It's lovely. I highly recommend it!

i'm the same way, except with san pellegrino (with fresh lime). until, that is, i smashed an entire bottle on the floor because my carpal tunnel syndrome made it hard for me to open the cap. thank jebus for plastic bottles.
i'm betting that my baby will have a very refined palate: san pellegrino and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

I have a little mini-fridge under my desk. Can't praise it high enough.
Love your post!

I've been pellegrino religiously since I got pregnant. Its the only thing that got me through those first few weeks, and the habit stuck. I'm going to go broke if I dont cut back. (Better than when I used to say the same about cigarettes, I guess!)

A Greek colleague who was breast feeding told me she drinks a lot of beer, and that it helps produce milk. Maybe get a keg, it's cheaper?

This is too funny! My aunt told me the same thing about the beer, but not a lot - one a day. But she is the only woman I personally know who nursed more than a few months.

I nursed my daughter for an extended amount of time, and I can tell you that drinking a beer does help your milk. First, it relaxes you. Second, there's an old German wives tale that something in dark beers actually stimulates the mild production.

I hate to say this, but I wish someone had told me during the beginnings of my pregnancy, so that is why I am posting this. Please don't be upset, but Perrier is just not safe during pregnancy in large amounts. It is one of the worst offenders for carrying high levels of nitrates, a known cause of birth defects and an absolute no-no for pregnant women. Switch to San Pellegrino, the only one I have found to contain safe levels of nitrates and sulpahtes during pregnancy. I stumbled on this page while I was researching the safety of my beloved Perrier, and upon finally finding the stats I was looking for, hunted this page back down to give you ladies a heads up. Perrier is my fave so turst me I hated to find this out.

Hello
I have just realized that I have a drinking problem. At this current moment while I am writing this I am wasted. I have no one to turn to, to support me in my problem. I want and also know that I need help, but I know that I can not do it alone. Everyone I telling me to call a number and someone will pick me up, but for me to call I am scared to death, and I do not like talking on the phone to anyone. I think that I need is for someone to pick me up from my house and to walk with me into a program. I think that if it does not happen, I am going to end up dead. Right now I do not wanna die
