I just spoke at a faculty meeting for the first time. (This is my ninth year at Granolan.)
My point was politely ignored, and I was on the losing side of the ensuing vote, but a crusty near-emeritus introduced himself and shook my hand heartily—"That's what we meant!"—on the way out.
You probably have big numbers of faculty. I talk, probably too often, in our smallish group of faculty during meetings. Sometimes, I fear our whole group is much too solicitous.

There were, um, supposed to be a lot of faculty thereāit was a college-wide meeting.
Department meetings? I bet everyone there wishes I'd shut up.

Oh that IS very different. Perhaps it will take me 4 years to GO to a campus-wide faculty meeting.

OMG you succeeded ... I mean at not talking until after tenure. I was told and told and told that I should not, but I could not resist. I am impressed ... you did it ... that is fortitude!!!
